In a significant breakthrough in the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred in a suicide bombing perpetrated by Pakistan-backed JeM terror outfit, the NIA on Monday (National Investigation Agency) has identified the vehicle used in the attack.

In a significant breakthrough in the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred in a suicide bombing perpetrated by Pakistan-backed JeM terror outfit, the NIA on Monday (National Investigation Agency) has identified the crucial details related to the vehicle used in the attack and its owner.
Scrutinizing the remnants of the vehicles that the JeM suicide bomber was driving (which he rammed the car into the bus carrying CRPF soldiers) from the site of the attack, the NIA investigators, with the support of forensic and automobile experts have identified the vehicle to be a Maruti Eeco car.
The owner of the Maruti Eeco car, having Chassis number MA3ERLF1SOO183735, Engine G12BN164140, has been identified as Sajjad Bhatt, son of Md Maqbool Bhat and resident of Bijbehara, Anantnag district. As per the reports, the Maruti Eeco, that was used in Pulwama attack, was sold to Md Jaleel Ahmed Haqqani a resident of Heaven colony, Anantnag in the year 201. The car subsequently exchanged hands seven times and finally reached Sajjad Bhat, who has been evading arrest since the Pulwama attack that took place on February 14.

On February 23, an NIA team with the help of Jammu and Kashmir police conducted raids at the resident of the owner (Sajjad Bhat), but he could not be traced. As per reports, he has joined JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammed), which is headquartered in Pakistan under the leadership of terrorist Masood Azhar.
At Lethpora near Awantipora, the car carrying massive explosives rammed into the bus carrying CRPF security personnel. It caused a blast in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred.
On February 20, the agency registered a case in the aftermath of the attack and formed a team to investigate the terror strike. In its probe, the NIA also investigated on the planning and execution of the terror attack.
On February 15, three Jaish terrorists were killed in a 16-hour operation in Pulwama's Pinglan area, 12 km from the spot of the February 14 attack.
