No respite from cold weather in Punjab, Haryana

Cold weather conditions continued to persist on Friday at most places in Punjab and Haryana with minimum temperatures hovering below normal limits.

Cold weather conditions continued to persist on Friday at most places in Punjab and Haryana with minimum temperatures hovering below normal limits.

Halwara in Punjab and Karnal in Haryana were the coldest places in the respective states recording minimum temperatures of 3.6 degrees Celsius and 3 degrees Celsius, a meteorological department official said in Chandigarh.

Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar reeled at a low of 5 degrees Celsius.

There was no respite from the cold in other places including Bathinda (4.3 deg C), Faridkot (4 deg C), Gurdaspur (4.8 deg C), Ludhiana (4.6 deg C), Adampur (4.1 deg C), Pathankot (6.2 deg C) and Patiala (4.6 deg C).

In Haryana, Narnaul shivered at a low of 3.5 degrees Celsius.

Hisar registered a low of 4.8 degrees Celsius. Ambala recorded a low of 5.4 degrees Celsius while Bhiwani, too, experienced a cold night at 6.3 degrees Celsius.

Rohtak recorded a low of 5 degrees Celsius while Sirsa's minimum settled at 5.9 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a low of 6.7 degrees Celsius.
