"Lok Sabha Speaker is pleased to notify the building previously known as Parliament House as the Samvidhan Sadan," the statement by Lok Sabha Secretariat read. The name 'Samvidhan Sadan' was proposed by PM Narendra Modi earlier in the day.

The second day of the Special Parliament Session in the Rajya Sabha has been adjourned. The session will resume on September 20.
War of words erupts between Kharge & Sitharaman after Congress takes credit for Women's Reservation Bill
A war of words erupted between Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Congress President Droupadi Murmu over the Women's Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha. "The backward women in India are not getting the opportunities that they (BJP) are getting," Kharge said.
The argument started after Kharge claimed, "They don't give us credit but I want to bring to their notice that the Women Reservation Bill was already passed in 2010 but it was stopped."

Reacting to Kharge's allegation that parties choose uneffective woman, Sitharaman said, "To make a sweeping statement that all parties choose women who are not effective is absolutely unacceptable. I speak on behalf of all women, we are empowered by our party, by our PM. President Droupadi Murmu Ji is an empowered woman."

PM Modi addresses Rajya Sabha on a 'historic day'
"With the help of everyone, we have taken tough decisions that are in the favour of the nation...Today is a memorable as well as a historic day," PM Narendra Modi said in his Rajya Sabha address.

Here are the key provisions of the Women's Reservation Bill
- The bill will grant 33% reservations for women in the Lok Sabha and Assemblies but will exclude the Rajya Sabha or the Legislative Council.
- One-third of the seats reserved for the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities will be reserved for women.
- No two women MPs will be allowed to contest one seat.
- The bill excludes reservations for women from the OBC category.
- Reservation of seats shall come into effect after delimitation is undertaken after the relevant figures for the first census have been published.
- Rotation of the seats reserved for women in Lok Sabha and state Assemblies shall take place after each subsequent exercise of delimitation.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal tabled the 'Women's Reservation Bill,' also known as 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' in the Lok Sabha amid a massive uproar by the opposition MPs. Congress MP Adhir Ranjan gave credit for the bill to Congress.

A new dress code with a floral motif for Parliament staff will kick off today. According to an internal circular issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the marshals, security staff and officials, chamber attendants and drivers have been issued new uniforms which they have to don from today (19 September).
