Passenger discovers cockroach in meal served on Vande Bharat train, IRCTC responds

In a bizarre incident, a passenger on board Bhopal-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express was shocked when he discovered a cockroach in his roti in the meal served by IRCTC. The passenger was traveling from Bhopal to Gwalior in Vande Bharat Express on July 24. 

Following the incident, the passenger shared several pictures on his Twitter showing the cockroach stuck to one of the rotis. Soon after the pictures were posted various social media users reacted to the incident and raised questions on the quality of the food served on Indian trains.

Sharing the pictures, the passenger wrote, "IRCTC found a cockroach in my food, in the vande bharat train."

Railways responded 

Responding to the passenger's complaint, the Railway Seva aplogised for the unpleasent experience casued to passengers and assured that appropriate actions will be taken in the matter to ensure that no such incident gets repeated in future. 

"We did not intend for this unpleasant experience. Appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that such incidents will not repeat. Request you to share PNR and mobile number preferably in Direct Message (DM) with us," the Railway Seva tweeted.

Assuring the passenger of strict action against the service provider, IRCTC also reacted on the passenger's post, and wrote, "Sir, our sincere apology for the unpleasant experience. Matter has been viewed seriously. Concerned service provider has been strictly warned to take due precautions during food preparation. Also, a hefty penalty has been imposed on the service provider and monitoring has also been further strengthened at the source kitchen."

Notably, the Bhopal-Delhi Vande Bharat Express train runs from Rani Kamalapati station (Bhopal) to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station (New Delhi). Several other passengers traveling on the same train also complained about the quality of food in the recent past on Twitter. This was the same train which reported firing in one of its coach a few days ago. However, all passengers were evacuated safely and no injury was reported in the incident.
