In a shocking incident, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu's friend and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed's aide Gopal Singh Chawla set the Indian tricolour ablaze during a protest in Lahore, Pakistan. Pictures have gone viral where Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla can be seen setting the Tiranga on fire amid a protest in the neighbouring country. As per sources, the picture is of February 4.
Only months before this, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu attended the Kartarpur Corridor foundation stone-laying ceremony where he shared the stage with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pak Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa in November.
Furthermore, Sidhu also met pro-Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla during his Pakistan visit. Gopal Singh Chawla also took to his social media to share a picture with Sidhu in which he had referred to him in as his 'brother'.
In an exclusive conversation with Republic TV after, the pro-Khalistani leader confirmed meeting with Sidhu upon his arrival in Pakistan, however, denied the reports of a closed-door meeting with the Congress leader. He later went onto regard Sidhu as the 'messenger of love and God' and stated that he is 'a close friend' of Pakistan PM Imran Khan.
Back in November 2018, Republic accessed another video showing Gopal Singh Chawla spewing venom against India. The video came into the spotlight hours after Sidhu was clicked posing with Chawla. In the video, Hafiz Saeed's aide was seen saying:
"If you don't understand then you will be destroyed, you Indians. Your stories won't be told in History. If India dares to attack Pakistan, the entire Sikh community will join the Pakistan Army. And I want to tell you this Indians -- this is Pakistan. Like you call Bharat your mother, Pakistan is our father. And a father is always a father. And mother should always remain under the control of the father and she should always be scared of the father. The Sikh community will fight you and we will throw this pen down and pick up the gun. After that, we'll teach you such a lesson that you'll be wiped out. If you dare to look at Pakistan with a twisted eye, we will gouge your eyes out. Pakistan zindabad, Pakistan zindabad."
Earlier in January, Republic TV accessed an exclusive video in which Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla was seen campaigning for Saifullah Khalid, Milli Muslim League (MML) in Pakistan.
