PM Modi hails scrapping of Article 370 as a tribute to Sardar Patel, says, 'J&K now free from shackles of vested groups'

After the successful passage of two bills which integrated Kashmir with the rest of the country, PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to celebrate the historic and joyous moment.

After the successful passage of two bills which integrated Kashmir with the rest of the country, PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to celebrate the historic and joyous moment.

Calling it 'a momentous occasion in our Parliamentary democracy' PM Modi congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. He said that they were finally free from the shackles of vested interest groups.

He also called the Bills a tribute to the nation's greats - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, BR Ambedkar and BJP's founding member Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. He also thanked those in the Opposition for supporting the Bills.

He also had words of gratitude for Home Minister Amit Shah for his commitment and diligence in bringing the Bills into effect. 'I would like to specially congratulate Amit Bhai!' he tweeted.
