Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an informal meeting with the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) leaders on the sidelines of G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan on Friday. Speaking at the BRICS meeting, PM Modi emphasised on the need to work together to fight terrorism.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi shared visuals of the meeting with the BRICS leaders on the sidelines of G20 Summit.

In his remarks, PM Modi spoke about strengthening WTO, fighting protectionism and ensuring energy security among other issues.

Addressing the gathering, he said focused on the need to curb terrorism which not only takes lives of innocents but also negatively affects economic development and communal harmony.

"Terrorism is the biggest threat to humanity. Not only it takes the lives of the innocents, it negatively affects economic development and communal harmony. We have to stop all mediums of support to terrorism & racism," PM Modi said.

PM Modi put forward a 5-point approach to address common challenges including terrorism facing the world:

  1. We have to emphasize on the necessary reforms in international, financial and business institutions for reformed multilitarism.
  2. Resources such as oil and gas needed to be constantly available for sustained economic growth and should be available at low prices.
  3. New Development Bank should get more priority in the physical and social infrastructure and renewable energy programs for the member countries. India's initiative for Coalition for Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure will help in the development of appropriate infrastructure to face the least developed and developing countries with natural calamities. I invite you to join this coalition.
  4. Migration of skilled craftsmen around the world should be made easy.
  5. I have recently called for a Global Conference on Terrorism. Lack of necessary consent to fight terrorism cannot keep us inactive. I appreciate Brazil to give a place in the main priorities of the struggle against terrorism.
