PM Narendra Modi on Thursday wished former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on his birthday. Dr Manmohan Singh who held the position of Prime Minister for two consecutive terms (from 2004-2014) turned 87 on September 26. PM Modi is currently on a visit to the United States where he attended sessions at the United Nation General Assembly and held several bilateral meeting with a number of heads of state. Dr Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi meet P Chidambaram

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday met P Chidambaram at Tihar Jail, and expressed concern over his continued detention in custody. Chidambaram, a former Union finance minister, was arrested on August 21 by the CBI for alleged corruption in the grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance in the INX Media case. He was later remanded in judicial custody and sent to Tihar Jail on September 5. Singh said he hoped the courts would render justice in Chidambaram's case.

PM Modi speaks at business forum

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the keynote speaker at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum in New York on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by eminent business and political leaders from around the world. In his speech, the Prime Minister spoke about achieving Global stability. He also spoke about how India can be a booming market for investors and assured leaders about India's economic calibre.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi later met the leaders of the Caribbean Community and Common Market in the first-ever India-Caricom summit, with a focus on fighting climate change and increasing India's participation with the grouping. Just ahead of the India-Caricom Leaders' Meeting on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly Session, Modi said on Wednesday it is an important initiative and he thanked the participants for attending it. PM Modi also announced $14 million grant for community development projects in the CARICOM. He also announced $ 150 million Line of Credit for solar, renewable energy and climate- change related projects.
