India and China are all set to hold the Modi-Xi summit in Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram on October 11 and 12 and PM Modi will be flying down from Delhi to Chennai for the meeting. To ensure smooth management during the meeting between the two world leaders, the officials from the MEA, Tamil Nadu Government, and the Chinese officials have been working day and night since the last fortnight. Also, the State Government is making sure that the roads connecting Chennai and Mahabalipuram are developed. Some parts of the roads including East coast road, Old Mahabalipuram Road, and the GST road are being recoated.
PM Modi will be flying down from Delhi to Chennai on October 11 at 12:30 pm, post which he will get on an MI-17 helicopter and land at the Mahabalipuram helipad at 1 pm. The summit will begin at 5 pm when both, PM Modi and the Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend a guided tour to three of the monuments at Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram. Next, both the leaders will be attending a cultural program from 6 to 6:30 pm at Shore Temple. Following that, both PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will be having a private dinner.
On the day two of the summit, PM Modi will have a Tete-e-Tete with Chinese President Xi Jinping at 10 am. This will be followed by India and China delegation-level talks at 10:50 am in the morning. The leaders will then proceed for, yet another meal hosted by India in the honour of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Post the events, PM Modi will proceed to Chennai airport from the Mahabalipuram helipad at 1:40 pm and land reach Delhi by 6:50 pm.
Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram is a historic town that is named after the Pallava ruler of the seventh century Narashimavarman I. The Pallava and Chola kingdom have had strong maritime trade connection with China since the seventh century. There are a lot of monuments in Mahabalipuram which can be grouped as Monolithic, Caves, Temples and Sculptured scenes. These monuments were also declared as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1984.
