Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Dr Arunima Sinha on Twitter for becoming the first woman amputee to have climbed Mount Vinson (highest peak of Antarctica)

"Congratulations to @sinha_arunima for scaling new heights of success. She is the pride of India, who has distinguished herself through her hardwork and perseverance. 
Wishing her the very best for her future endeavours," he tweeted.

On Thursday, Dr Sinha had announced her joy of creating a world record.

Sinha, a former Indian national volleyball player, had her left leg amputated below the knee after being thrown from a train while resisting a robbery bid.

In December 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had handed the national flag to Dr Arunima Sinha, before she embarked on an expedition to Mount Viscon in Antarctica.
