PM Narendra Modi on Monday will be in Chennai to attend the 56th convocation of premier institute IIT Madras. IIT Madras invited PM Modi to be the chief guest at the convocation as the institute is celebrating its diamond jubilee year. A report quoted R Subrahmanyam, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, said that this is the second edition of the event. The first edition of the event was held in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in November 2018.

PM Narendra Modi's day at IIT Madras

PM Modi will also address the participants of Singapore-India Hackathon 2019 at IIM-Madras. In Chennai, he would also participate in the prize distribution ceremony of the Singapore-India Hackathon. As per reports, the hackathon is to promote engagement and collaboration of the student community in India with the rest of the world and to develop an innovative and out-of-the-box solution. There will be tight security in Chennai owing to PM Modi's visit, sources said.

PM Narendra Modi seeks idea for IIT Madras speech on Twitter

PM Modi on Sunday had sought ideas for the speech he will deliver at the convocation ceremony of IIT-Madras on Monday. "Tomorrow I would be in Chennai for the convocation ceremony of @iitmadras. I look forward to being with some of India's brightest minds," he tweeted. He also urged people, especially IITians and IIT alumni to share their ideas for his speech.

PM Modi hails hackathon

He said the ideas can be shared on the 'open forum' on the NaMo App. Describing the hackathon a great mix of youth power and innovation, he said it brings together the finest young minds finding long-lasting solutions to the problems India faces.
