Political leaders have wished citizens on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami on Saturday. On the spring festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ram, many Ram devotees visit temples, while many worship miniature idols of infant Rama which are bathed and clothed, before being placed in a cradle. The ceremony is often accompanied by Ram Katha recitals (stories of Ram), or a devotional discourse. Some also observe a fast on Ram Navami.
