The President, Ram Nath Kovind was presented with credentials of five countries on Thursday. The envoys of five countries, including those of France, Denmark and the European Union (EU) put forward their credentials to the President. This took place in a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The other ambassadors included those of Mexico and Kazakhstan, according to the President's Secretariat.

The envoys who presented their credentials were the Ambassador of Denmark Freddy Svane, the Ambassador of France Emannuel Lenain, the Ambassador of the European Union Ugo Astuto, the Ambassador of Mexico Federico Salas Lotfe, and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan Yerlan Alimbayev. The Twitter handle of the President of India shared tweets to showcase the ceremony where the envoys of the countries presented Kovind with the credentials. The letter of credence is usually a document that appoints a diplomat as an ambassador to another sovereign state. The letter is addressed from the head of one state to another.

The procedural event 

The ceremonial event usually starts with the Ambassador and the Chief of Protocol to his or her left, entering the Presidential Palace. The ambassador is usually welcomed by the Director of the Office of the President or another designated Palace official. The ambassador after making his or her statement presents it to the Chief of Protocol before the Ceremony following which he hands over the letters of credentials. The President after the completion of the statement invites the ambassador to his office after being introduced by the Chief of Protocol.
