Rahul Gandhi jumps in to mock 'Howdy, Modi', fires 'Howdy economy' pun

Days ahead of PM Modi's 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and took a dig at the event in the light of Indian economy.

Days ahead of PM Modi's 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston, Texas, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and took a dig at the event in the backdrop of present situation of the Indian economy. In his tweet on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi asked PM Modi about how the economy is doing. Sharing an article, Rahul Gandhi questioned PM Modi about the situation of Indian economy, saying, "Ain't too good it seems".

Rahul Gandhi wrote: "Howdy" economy doin', Mr Modi? Ain't too good it seems. #HowdyEconomy

Congress on Howdy Modi

Notably, the Congress party has had differing views on PM Narendra Modi's mega-event at Houston which is going to take place on September 22. While Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury called the event futile, after US announced that Donald Trump will be joining PM Modi on the stage during his address. Congress leader Salman Khurshid chose to refrain from criticising PM over the event. Khurshid said that Modi is going to the US as an Indian representative, asserting that politics should be within the country.  Abhishek Manu Singhvi also took a dig at PM Modi's event by sharing a quote by Elton John, which reads: "I think performers are all show-offs anyway. Unless you show off, you're not going to get noticed".

Govt working on reviving economy

In a statement released by the finance ministry, it has been stated that the economy is working on booster doses to give a leg-up to the economy that has hit over the six-year low of 5 per cent. As per a report by news agency PTI, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be announcing the blue print for the stimulus in the next few days. Meanwhile, the Union government recently announced a slew of measures in three dosages including special window for real estate, export incentives, bank consolidation and sops for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the automobile sector among others. Earlier, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das also assured that the government has taken a number of measures to boost the economy in three phases.
