Rahul Gandhi: 'There was a time when ECs were impartial, brave'
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while paying his tribute on the demise of TN Seshan, took a dig at the current Election Commissioners and politicized it.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while paying his tribute to Late TN Seshan, took a dig at the current Election Commissioners. Taking it to Twitter, Gandhi wrote: "Unlike today, there was a time when our Election Commissioners were impartial, respected, brave and feared." Condoling the former CEC's demise, the Congress leader he wrote:

PM Modi pays tribute
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled Seshan's demise and paid rich tributes to the former CEC. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi called Seshan "an outstanding civil servant".

Amit Shah pays tribute
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to the demise of former CEC, TN Seshan. Shah called him a 'true torchbearer of democracy.'
Saddened by the demise of former Chief Election Commissioner, Shri T N Seshan ji. He played a transformative role in reforming and strengthening India’s electoral institution. The nation will always remember him as a true torchbearer of democracy. My prayers are with his family.

About TN Seshan
The former CEC, TN Seshan was known as someone who ruthlessly enforced the Model Code of Conduct and led the game-changing electoral reforms in the 1990s. Known for his "no-nonsense" attitude, Seshan was credited with ushering in major electoral reforms during his tenure as the 10th CEC between December 12, 1990, and December 11, 1996. It was believed that Seshan used to own a big stick while enforcing the model code of conduct to reign in muscle and money power during elections. He was born in Thirunellai, Palakkad district, Kerala. Seshan had also won kudos and laurels as well including the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1996 for exemplary work in public and government service.
