Rahul Gandhi leaves Cong hanging again; flies abroad prior to protests

As the Congress gears up for its nationwide protests from November 5, senior party leader, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday left for abroad, just days before protests

As the Indian National Congress (INC) gears up for its nationwide protests from November 5, senior party leader, Rahul Gandhi left the country on Monday, just days before the commencement of protests. According to ANI sources, Gandhi's abroad visit is scheduled for a week, and he will return in the first week of November and join party protests. Congress had earlier announced that the party will hold nationwide protests from November 5 to highlight issues such as unemployment, unprecedented economic slowdown, rise in prices of essential commodities, the collapse of the banking system, and farmers distress.

Congress to hold massive protests from November 5

The party is scheduled to hold 35 press conferences between November 1 and November 8. The protests will be held between November 5 and November 15 against the anti-economic policies and decisions of Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre. Senior party leaders are also scheduled to address these press conferences whereas a massive show has been planned in Delhi where other parties have also been invited.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary KC Venugopal had earlier announced that protests in districts and state capitals would finally lead to a massive show in Delhi. "The decision to hold protests was taken in a meeting headed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi with other senior leaders, party office bearers, Congress CMs, and PCC President and was earlier scheduled between October 15 and October 25 but had to be postponed due to the recently conclude state election," Venugopal's statement read. Congress (INC) gears up for its nationwide protests from November 5, senior party leader, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday left for abroad, just days before

Gandhi flies off to Bangkok before crucial Assembly elections

This is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi is travelling abroad before a significant event. Prior to the Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections, Gandhi had left for Bangkok amidst severe problems in the party. Gandhi flew out of the country when Haryana Congress President Ashok Tanwar had resigned from the party. However, the Haryana Assembly elections did not prove to be any better for the party as it won 31 seats out of the 90 seats.
