Rajnath Singh visits Kranji War Memorial in Singapore, pays tributes to WW II heroes

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Kranji War Memorial in Singapore on Wednesday morning, November 20, to pay tributes to all those soldiers who lost their lives fighting during the Second Wolrd War. Singh is on a visit to East Asian countries and has attended various summits and held meetings with representatives from different nations.

On Tuesday, Singh met Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore where the two leaders to take on the bilateral defence cooperation to 'new heights'. He referred to India’s stand on the South China Sea and the Indo-Pacific region. He stressed that the Indo-Pacific for India means an open, inclusive and stable region, connected through secure seas, integrated by trade and anchored by the unity and centrality of ASEAN. He also paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose.

Singh also attended the India-Singapore Defence Minster's Dialogue and addressed the Indian diaspora in Singapore, where he hit out at Pakistan. He said, "We have a neighbour whose name is Pakistan (land of the pure) but it keeps on doing 'na-Pak' (nefarious) acts." He also spoke about the Modi government's decision to revoke Article 370, saying, "Since our party was formed, we always promised and also mentioned in our election manifesto that whenever we will come to power, we will revoke Article 370 and make Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India".

Singh also spoke about Jammu and Kashmir, and he said, "We will never compromise national interest and national pride with the political interest at any cost. Because we do politics not just to make government but to make the nation. Security forces have been killing terrorists in the past, but it is for the first time, not only in India's history but also in the world's history that about 300-350 terrorists were killed in one go."
