Hours after the attack on a forest range officer while on an inspection drive to the site of Kaleshwaram project was attacked by a mob, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda lashed out at the state government and said that it is happening because of political support to local mafia.
Speaking to Republic TV he said:
"It can't be ignored. This is unacceptable to beat forest officer like this. They went to protect our valuable forest. Even in presence of Police, they thrashed this lady officer. Government should take strict action. Timely action is needed and strong punishment should be given to those who are involved."
"It is in public eye. This is unacceptable, they (forest officials) are not treated the way they should. Even in presence of Police the MLA's brother went on beating her. Action should be taken so that it can act as deterrent. This is shameful," the actor added.
In the shocking visuals, the lady is seen standing on top of a tractor surrounded by men holding sticks (laathis) and attacking on the woman and the vehicle. The visual also shows that people started throwing stones at her. One man can be seen attacking her vehicle and the other hit her with a stick on her head. The officer named Anitha alleged that she was attacked by a mob led by TRS Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa's brother Krishna.
The forest officer was injured in the process and was later taken to the hospital. In the video, Anitha also identified Krishna as the man who hit her and led the mob, claiming that she is the is the brother of TRS mla.She said that she was there to supervise a plantation drive. The forest officer was inspecting a afforestation programme. Degraded forest land was selected by Forest Department for raising of compensatory afforestation plantation for Kaleshwaram project.
In a series of tweet, he said that an attack on the uniformed personnel is an attack on the state itself. He also added that similar incident had taken place at Tipeshwer sanctuary. He also tagged Prime Minster Narendra Modi, Prakash Javedekar and Hardeep Singh Puri urging them to ensure safety of forest officers.
In an official letter by Forest department it states that while the official to undertake ploughing work in 20 Ha plantation. It said that few villagers of Sarsala arrived in mob and started using filthy language and also attacked Forest Range officer Anitha. It clearly mentioned Konaru Krishna who is the Chairman Zila Parishad as the one attacking the Forest officer.
