RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat says, 'Lynching is a foreign concept'

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed the Vijayadashmi function of the RSS at Reshimbagh ground in Maharashtra's Nagpur city on Tuesday, October 8. In his speech, he mentioned the rise in the cases of 'lynching' in the country and opined, lynchings should not be used to defame the country. In his address, Mohan Bhagwat asserted that 'lynching' is a foreign concept. He also said that such incidents defame India and it's citizens. 

'Lynching is a western construct'

"Lynching is not the word from Indian ethos, its origin is from a story in a separate religious text. We Indians trust in brotherhood. Don't impose such terms on Indians," he said.

He said that incidents of lynching require law agencies to intervene.

 “This tradition is found in other religions. In our country, we find the tradition of brotherhood. In ancient India, Buddha stopped people of two villages from attacking each other over water issue. This is our tradition. But what is happening is small incidents are being played up for convenience. These issues require law and order agencies to intervene.”

Mohan Bhagwat urged citizens to stay in Harmony

The RSS Chief spoke about the strength of being united. In his speech, he also highlighted the importance so staying united while, recognizing differences. He said that a society's strength lies in staying United. In his address, Mohan Bhagwat urged citizens to create harmony and that everyone should live within confines of the law.

'India's Borders are much safer'

He also spoke about national security and asserted that India's borders are now much safer. "The number of guards and check-posts on land borders and surveillance along the maritime border, especially on islands, have to be increased," he said. He also praised the Government for the decision to abrogate Article 370 and said the government is capable of taking decisions for the country.
