Russia issues commemorative stamp in the honour of Mahatma Gandhi

To mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Russia has launched a commemorative stamp of Mahatma Gandhi featuring his image

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Russia has launched commemorative stamps in his honour. The stamp was presented to Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on September 4 by the Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 20th Bilateral Summit in Vladivostok, Russia after which the stamp was officially issued.

Russia marks 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi

The postage stamps launched by Russia which consists of an image of Mahatma Gandhi himself and was issued on a sheet containing 12 stamps. The launch of postage stamps depicts the importance of a close relationship between New Delhi and Moscow.

To celebrate Gandhi's 150 birth anniversary, a day-long Exhibition and Academic Conference dedicated to the deep friendship between Mahatma Gandhi and Leo Tolstoy was organized at the Tolstoy Estate in Yasna Polyana on October 2 in Russia. The event was organized by the Embassy of India, in collaboration with the Leo Tolstoy Museum and Estate and the Institute of Oriental Studies.

Indian leaders pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Raj Ghat to pay homage to the 'Father of the Nation.' PM Modi also penned down his tribute in the op-ed section of the New York Times. Congress President Sonia Gandhi and BJP working president JP Nadda also paid their homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. Several leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Minister of Law & Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad took to Twitter to remember Gandhi and mark his 150th birth anniversary.
