SAD's Manjinder Sirsa lauds Sikh journo for quitting 'prejudiced' BBC

Shiromani Akali Dal leader, Manjinder Sigh Sirsa took to Twitter on Saturday night, to extend his support to the senior Sikh journalist from BBC. The senior journalist, Lord Inderjit Singh recently quit BBC over the accusations of ‘prejudice and intolerance’ in the channel. Singh was stopped from presenting a story on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and how he fought the Islamic oppression and forced conversion. The SAD leader, Manjinder Singh accused BBC of “racial discrimination” over the forceful embargo on presenting the story. 

Sirsa threatens boycott of BBC

Manjinder Singh also threatened BBC that the entire Sikh community might boycott the channel if they do not apologise to the senior journalist, Inderjit Singh. He accused the channel of having an agenda to “twist the history” for their benefit. Lastly, Manjinder Singh also said that the whole Sikh community is in the support of Inderjit Sigh. Additionally, he also said that the community was “proud” of him.

Lord Inderjit Singh's three-decade-long career 

Inderjit Singh had worked at BBC Radio Four's ‘Thought for the Day’ for over 30 years. Singh hit out at BBC’s 'misplaced sense of political correctness' because the block the contributors to say non-controversial things to avoid any complaint from listeners. According to the media reports, Lord Inderjit Singh has made a statement saying, “It was like saying to a Christian that he or she should not talk about Easter for fear of giving offence to the Jews”. As per media reports, the 87-year-old after leaving also complained about his treatment but a review by BBC director of radio James Purnell rejected his complaint.
