Statue of Unity sets another record, PM Modi calls it 'excellent news'

The 'Statue of Unity' in Gujarat has been included in TIME magazine's 'World's 100 Greatest Places of 2019' list. PM Modi called it an excellent news on Twitter

In a proud moment, the 'Statue of Unity' in Gujarat has been included in TIME magazine's 'World's 100 Greatest Places of 2019' list. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it an "excellent news". He added that he is glad that the 'Statue of Unity' is emerging as a "popular tourist spot." PM Modi in his tweet also said that few days back, the Statue of Unity recorded 34,000 people visitors in a single day. Besides 'Statue of Unity', Soho House Mumbai has also been included in the list.

Earlier, PM Modi shared some pictures of the breathtaking view of the Sardar Sarovar Dam from Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Sharing pictures, PM Modi urged people to visit the iconic place. The Prime Minister also stated that he is happy to share that the water levels at the Sardar Sarovar Dam have touched a historic 134-meter mark. The Statue of Unity is built near the Sardar Sarovar Dam in the Narmada Valley.

Statue of Unity receives international recognition

Inaugurated by PM Modi on October 31, 2018, on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel in Gujarat, the Statue of Unity is is the world's tallest statue occupying over 20,000 square meters and surrounded by a 12 square km artificial lake. The 182 metres (597 feet) statue of Sardar Patel featured in the 2019 World Architecture News Awards, earlier in May. The prestigious and internationally acclaimed award showcases the best international design in both current and future projects.

"The Statue of Unity was by far one of the most complex and challenging assignments we have executed and being featured along with several other global engineering marvels is a truly remarkable achievement not only for all of us at L&T but for our entire nation as well," S N Subrahmanyan, CEO and Managing Director, L&T had said.
