The Law student who had accused Chinmayand of alleged sexual exploitation was reportedly taken to Bareilly for admissions in Masters of Law (LLM), following the court's order, officials said on Friday, October 18. An application was submitted in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) which asked the victim to be admitted into the LLM course at Bareilly college.

Chinmayanand accused of sexual assault

Chinmayanand is accused of allegedly sexually harassing a student of a law college run by his society. He is lodged in the jail following his arrest in a case registered against him under section 376C of the IPC. The former Union Minister also faces charges of stalking under section 354 D, wrongful confinement under section 342 and criminal intimidation under section 506 of the IPC. In August 2019, a female student at a college run by him posted a video alleging sexual exploitation by Swami Chinmayanand. He was arrested after the girl allegedly went missing. Meanwhile, the woman from Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur who accused former Union Minister and leader Chinmayanand of raping her was sent to 14-days judicial custody on September 25 for allegedly extorting money.

Earlier, a BJP leader and ex MLC Jayesh Prasad defended Chinmayanand and claimed the Congress had conspired against Chinmayanand. However,  the BJP unit of Uttar Pradesh said Chinmayanand was no longer a part of the party. UP BJP spokesperson Harish Chandra Srivastava said, "Chinmayanand isn’t a BJP member anymore,". Another member of the Party n said that since he has not renewed his membership, he ceases to be a member.
