BJP MP from Punjab's Gurdaspur Sunny Deol on July 26, rescued a 45-year-old woman identified as Veena Bedi after she was reportedly sold to a Pakistani man by a travel agent who lured her to Kuwait by promising a housekeeping job with Rs 30,000 per month salary to her. As per reports, the victim's family had sought help from actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol during his Kartarpur visit, saying that she was assaulted and kept in a confinement in Kuwait.

In a swift attempt, the BJP MP personally intervened and contacted the Ministry of External Affairs and brought the woman safely back to India to her home in Gurdaspur on Friday. Along with Sunny Deol, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and two NGOs, one based in Kuwait and the other having its office in Canada also helped in the rescue mission.

After the efforts of bringing back the woman from Kuwait, Sunny Deol's father and veteran actor Dharmendra took to Twitter and congratulated him. He asked his son and BJP MP Deol to do his job with dedication.

"Treat your job as your responsibility, son. God bless you," Dharmendra wrote to Twitter.
