Sushma Swaraj passes away: Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Hema Malini, Jaya Prada and others express grief

Celebrities of the Entertainment industry related to the Bharatiya Janata Party were in extreme grief as they learned about the untimely demise of former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj. Former BJP MP Dharmendra and his wife and son, current Members of Parliament Hema Malini and Sunny Deol, Union Minister Babul Supriyo and MPs Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan, Kirron Kher, and leader Jaya Prada were among those who shared their grief of the veteran leader’s loss.

Emotional tributes

Dharmendra shared that she used to taunt him for leaving politics but would give him a tight embrace and added that she was India’s great leader, everyone’s favourite and his younger sister. He prayed that her soul rests in peace.   

Mathura MP Hema Malini shared a photograph with Sushma Swaraj terming it a ‘big loss to the nation’. The actress described the leader as a ‘good friend, philosopher & guide’ as they shared space as MPs in the Parliament. She summed up the qualities the leader often displayed, Hema Malini  wrote, “Soft spoken yet firm, always empathetic to people’s problems, she was unique in many ways &endeared herself to the public always.”

She also wrote how Sushma Swaraj used to appreciate Hema Malini’s dance and how she held her own position while being surrounded by male leaders. 

 

Gurdaspur MP Sunny Deol termed Sushma Swaraj as ‘one of the finest leaders’ and ‘special’. 

Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher expressed her shock and grief over the leader’s passing while calling her as ‘an amazing leader, orator and minister.’

MoS Environment, Forest & Climate Change Babul Supriyo paid his respects to  Sushma Swaraj in  Delhi. The singer-politician called her an ‘exemplary Stateswoman’ and a ‘excellent kind-hearted compassionate woman who never compromised on her humane virtues or ideals inspite of all the Power Positions she held and with Grace & Finesse.’ Earlier, Supriyo had tweeted that she was loved & revered by common people, won hearts with her kindness, compassion & persona. He also called the veteran leader as ‘everyone’s Didi’ and ‘India’s special daughter’. 

Delhi-North East MP Manoj Tiwari also paid his respects to Sushma Swaraj’s mortal remains. Earlier, he had tweeted that the news was deeply saddening for him while informing the details of the last rites. 

Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan wrote that the news was extremely saddening and that her place could never be filled. The actor also termed the former Minister as a great leader, jovial personality and a popular politician.

Jaya Prada termed Sushma Swaraj as a strong personality and ideal of a strong woman, while conveying her respects with a heavy heart. 

Sushma Swaraj no more

Sushma Swaraj, who served as the External Affairs Minister,  in the PM Modi’s first term in charge from 2014-19, passed away at the  AIIMS Hospital at 10.50 PM after suffering a cardiac arrest at her residence. She was cremated with full state honours on Wednesday afternoon.
