Sword fight breaks out in Punjab's Moga, at least nine injured

The clash took place just 100 meters away from the police station for around two hours but no police personnel reached the spot.

Tension prevailed in Punjab's Moga when two groups attacked each other with swords and rods in broad daylight in full public view on Sunday. Nine people were injured in the incident and have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

The clash took place just 100 meters away from a police station for around two hours but no police personnel reached the spot. 

The conflict was between the people of two villages in Moga, officials said. A group of youth from Lande Ke village attacked individuals from Mourh village. The police claimed that a PCR van reached the spot immediately after the incident. 

"The police have detained three persons in the case and are trying to identify others. Soon after getting the information, the police reached the spot and probe was initiated. The group from Lande Ke village has attacked another group and 9 injured are under treatment at the hospital. I appeal to the people not to panic in the area as the situation remains controlled," SHO City Police Station Daljeet Singh said.
