Tejashwi tweets pictures in defence of mid-air birthday celebration

After getting trolled and criticized for his mid-air birthday bash on a chartered flight, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader TejashwiYadav, posted pictures of his birthday celebration in two tweets on November 11, to limit the damaging effects on his so-called 'socialist' tag.

Damage control

In a tweet, he expressed his overwhelmingness at being showered with birthday greetings. "Your affection motivates me to take a leap forward in difficult circumstances with the hope that I may become the voice of the common people and serve them," he said.

He also posted two pictures with his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav. In one picture he is seen cutting a birthday cake, in the other, he is seen planting a Tulsi sapling.

In another tweet, he posted four photographs and captioned them with: "Your love and affection provide me the strength to fight against atrocities and injustice. At this young age, I have tried my best to live up to your expectations."

In one of the pictures, he is accepting a bouquet from female RJD workers In another, he is seen with his brother Tej. In the third, he can be seen cutting a birthday cake in a Ranchi hotel, while the fourth picture was taken in a chartered flight while he was cutting his birthday cake — which drew flak from netizens. 

Many Twitteraties have criticized Tejashwi and questioned his poor credentials. JDU spokesperson Sanjay Singh said that "one fails to understand that instead of tendering a public apology, he has shamelessly posted pictures of his grand birthday celebrations."

Tejaswi may have posted these pictures on his Twitter handle in his defense that he is pro-poor and voice of the common masses. But, his extravagant display of birthday celebration has dented his image of a "socialist leader", who is supposed to lead a simple life. Even the Twitteraties have retweeted his posts questioning his credentials as the son of a "poor" as claimed by him often.
