Big Win: Terror module busted, four JeM terrorists arrested in Pulwama

In a major success for security forces in the fight against terrorism in Kashmir, a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror module was busted in South Kashmir’s Pulwama.

In a major success for security forces in the fight against terrorism in Kashmir, a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror module was busted in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday. Four terrorists associated with the JeM terror outfit who were responsible for carrying out several terror-related attacks in south Kashmir were arrested by the police. Jaish-e-Mohammed is the same, Pakistan-based terror group that carried out the February 14 Pulwama attack this year.

“Police in Pulwama busted a module of terrorist associates responsible for carrying out blasts in the area and arrested four terrorist associates involved in terror crime. They were arrested for their involvement in case FIR No. 155/2019 pertaining to a blast at Arihal area of Pulwama”, a senior police officer said. He said the police team while investigating the case learned about the involvement of a person named Sharik Ahmad who had been constantly communicating with a foreign terrorist and making plans to carry out terrorist attacks in the area. Sharik with the help of three other terrorist associates identified as Aqib Ahmad, Adil Ahmad Mir and Owais Ahmad conspired and executed a terror attack in Airhal area of Pulwama where a blast was carried out using explosives in July this year.

Hands in a terror attack at Airhal

“Investigation into the case revealed that all the four persons are linked to JeM and played their active part in conspiring and executing this terror attack in the Airhal area. All the four terrorist associates have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Pulwama where they remain in custody” the spokesman said. He added that incriminating material recovered from their possession has been taken into records for the purpose of investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes. “Investigation into the case is on and we are trying to find out about their involvement in other terror-related incidents in the various parts of Kashmir valley, especially in South Kashmir,” the officer said.

Police nab five LeT supporters in Baramulla

On November 16, police in the Sopore town of Baramulla nabbed five terror supporters who were involved in threatening and intimidating locals in the area. “Three persons identified as Hilal Ahmad, Sahil Nazir both residents of Brath-Kalan Sopore and Peerzada Mohammad Zahir resident of Check Brath Sopore were arrested and incriminating materials including threat posters were recovered from their possession”, the officer said. He added that the initial investigation into the matters revealed that these individuals were involved in publishing and circulation of threat posters of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba in the Sopore area.

Success at Kupwara too

In another incident, officers at a checkpoint established at Kupwara Byepass crossing intercepted and arrested two terrorist associates identified as Ulfat Bashir Mir, resident of Nowpora Jageer and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Darpora Bomai. “Officers at the checkpoint recovered incriminating materials including ammunition from their possession. As per the initial investigation, both the persons are linked to proscribed terror outfit LeT”, he said.
