In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old was shot outside his home in Budgam district of Kashmir. Sources said that he was gun down by terrorists. The news came 157 days after the district was declared terror-free.

In a war of words over Article 370, Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday blamed the former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru for the political problems and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Today one-third of Kashmir is not with us. Who announced ceasefire when Pakistan encroached in Kashmir after independence and occupied one-third of its territory?

Jawaharlal Nehru announced ceasefire and Pakistan took away that part of Kashmir," he said alleging that Nehru did not take the then Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Patel into confidence. If he would have taken Patel into confidence before announcing ceasefire, then Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) would not have formed and terrorism would not have existed in Kashmir," Shah said.

Abdullah retaliating to Amit Shah's "Article 370 is temporary, not permanent" statement has claimed that even Jammu and Kashmir's 'ties are temporary' with India in that situation.

Rejecting the Center's long-standing push for abrogating Article 370 and 35 from the state, Abdullah said that a plebiscite had to decide the fate Jammu and Kashmir,

He said, "If this is temporary, then even our ties are temporary. It was said back then that when there is plebiscite in here (Jammu and Kashmir), the plebiscite will decide if Jammu and Kashmir becomes a part of India or Pakistan, but that did not happen.

"So if that did not happen, how can they abrogate the Article, because Pakistan has their part, India has its part, so the decision has not been made. The Maharaja's legacy is not together, half is here, half is there," he added.
