Tickets of India's fastest train Vande Bharat Express sold out for the next two weeks

The tickets for the next two weeks of the Vande Bharat Express have been sold out, announced Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday.  Within a day of its launch on February 16, the country's fastest train's tickets have already been booked for the next fortnight.

Within a day of its launch on February 16, the country's fastest train's tickets have already been booked for the next fortnight.

With the tickets being sold so fast, Minister Goyal also urged commuters to buy the tickets as soon as possible.

The Vande Bharat Express which was formerly called Train 18, did its first commercial run on Sunday morning.

India's first semi-high speed train the Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, February 15, from the New Delhi railway station, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and members of the Railway Board will be on board the train on its inaugural journey, it said.

It can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph and has travel classes like the Shatabdi trains but with better facilities. It aims to provide a totally new travel experience to passengers.

It has 16 air-conditioned coaches of which two are executive class. The total seating capacity is 1,128 passengers. It is much more than the conventional Shatabdi rakes of an equal number of coaches, thanks to shifting of all electric equipment below the coaches and seats in the driving coach also.

The Vande Bharat Express has been manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15. It became India's fastest train by hitting speeds of over 180 kmph during a trial run on a section of the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani route.
