Tripura's COVID-19 caseload rises to 5,392; death toll mounts to 27

Tripura's COVID-19 caseload shot up to 5,392 on Monday with the detection of 141 fresh infections, while four more fatalities pushed its coronavirus death toll to 27, officials said.

Tripura's COVID-19 caseload shot up to 5,392 on Monday with the detection of 141 fresh infections, while four more fatalities pushed its coronavirus death toll to 27, officials said.

The four patients, who hailed from different parts of the state, died at the Agartala Government Medical College here on Sunday, they said.

The COVID-19 patients were aged 82, 73, 61 and 31 and were suffering from various ailments, an official said.

The fresh infections have taken the number of active cases in the state to 1,742, he said.

A total of 142 people were cured of the disease and were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 3,605, the official said, adding 18 patients have migrated to other states.

Tripura has so far tested 1,80,687 samples for COVID- 19.
