'Unfortunate and shameful': BJP chief Amit Shah slams Congress and Rahul Gandhi for insulting 'Vande Mataram' by putting hold on its recitation in MP Secretariat

A day after the Madhya Pradesh government-led by Congress leader Kamal Nath put hold on the recitation of the national song Vande Mataram in the Secretariat on the first working day of every month, BJP president Amit Shah has hit out at his opposition party counterpart Rahul Gandhi. Taking it to Twitter on Wednesday, the BJP chief has called out the Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi in an elaborate post.

Mr Shah captioned the post by stating that the Congress government is making Madhya Pradesh the 'centre of appeasement':

The elaborate post(which was in Hindi) reads:

"The Congress government tries to make the heart of India 'Madhya Pradesh' the centre of appeasement

The ban on the recitation of the national song 'Vande Mataram' by the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is highly unfortunate and shameful. 'Vande Mataram' is not just a song, it is the symbol of the freedom struggle of India and an inspiration for all the Indians. 'Vande Mataram' is the manifestation of the emotions of the Indian citizens. By imposing a ban on the recitation of 'Vande Mataram' Congress has not only insulted the courageous freedom fighters of India who have sacrificed their lives for India but has betrayed the people of Madhya Pradesh.

For a common Indian citizen like me, it is an anti-national(treason) act to disobey the sacrifices of many Indians for any kind of political ideologies. 'Vande Mataram' does not belong to one category or group, but it is the symbol of the sacrifices of the lakhs of fighters for the freedom of India. And it is highly shameful, sad and an insult to the Indian independence if it is used to appease one section of the society.

I would like to question Congress leader Rahul Gandhi if the decision to insult 'Vande Mataram' was taken by him. Rahul Gandhi will have to give an answer to the citizens of the nation for this unfortunate decision taken by the Congress government."

Earlier on Tuesday, former MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan lashed out at the Congress party for putting a hold on the 14-year-old tradition to sing the National Song 'Vande Mataram' in the secretariat on the first working day of every month.

"It's unfortunate that Congress ended this tradition. I demand Congress govt to reintroduce this & if they don't do it, I will sing Vande Mataram with patriots at Vallabh Bhavan. I've decided that I will sing Vande Mataram in the premises at 11 am on January 6," the BJP leader said while speaking to ANI in the matter.
