India has delivered a gruesome blow to Pakistan on Saturday by exercising the provision of ‘Right of Reply’ to the Anti-India rhetoric of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Presenting India’s case in its right of reply at the United Nations, Vidisha Maitra eloquently tore apart every argument of Imran Khan with facts and logic, further raising questions that Pakistan needs to answer to the world.

A Right of Reply is a right to defend oneself against the criticisms it was associated with to at the same platform where it was criticized. Maitra soon became the topic of discussion as she exercised the right of reply and gave a staunch reply to Imran Khan’s Anti-India rant, ripping apart every argument raised by the Pakistan Prime Minister.

About Vidisha Maitra

Vidisha Maitra is an IFS (Indian Foreign Service) officer of 2008 batch. She is the First Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and holds the official designation of the Deputy Secretary (DS) of the Policy Planning and Research (PP&R) Division. India's fierce response to Pakistan

In response to the Anti India rhetoric, Maitra raised some serious questions on Pakistan that will put the terror-sponsoring neighbour on the backfoot. She said, "Now that Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited UN Observers to Pakistan to verify that there are no militant organisations in Pakistan, the world will hold him to that promise." Here are a few questions that she asked Pakistan:

  • "Can Pakistan confirm the fact that it is home to 130 UN-designated terrorists and 25 terrorist entities listed by the UN, as of today?
  • Will Pakistan acknowledge that it is the only Government in the world that provides pension to an individual listed by the UN in the Al Qaeda and Da’esh Sanctions list!
  • Can Pakistan explain why here in New York, its premier bank, the Habib Bank had to shut shop after it was fined millions of dollars over terror financing?
  • Will Pakistan deny that the Financial Action Task Force has put the country on notice for its violations of more than 20 of the 27 key parameters?
  • And would Prime Minister Khan deny to the city of New York that he was an open defender of Osama bin Laden?"

Imran Khan's rant at UNGA

The cricketer-turned-politician used the platform of UNGA to speak of his anti-India rhetoric, terming the RSS and BJP as 'fascists' and 'Hindu supremacists'. He alerted people of what he termed as the 'bloodbath' in the state of Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. Exceeding the time limit, of the 50-minutes that Khan spoke from the podium of the UN General Assembly hall, half of his speech was on India and Kashmir, drumming up hysteria about nuclear war and blaming India for Pakistan facing the heat of FATF.
