On Wednesday, another team of BSF performed several yoga asanas near the Border Outpost (BOP) on the banks of river Brahmaputra near Takkamari, Assam. The BSF performs some of the most difficult duties and border management. Hence, to keep up with such relentless work and to stay fit amidst challenging terrains, yoga can also prove helpful. In Assam, there are over 17 BOPs in Takkamari where the BSF survives without amenities like electricity, road connectivity and medical facilities. In monsoon, the water level in Bhramaputra River rises, forcing the BSF to shift its BOPs.

The lead-up to the fifth Yoga day has witnessed Yoga being proliferated to some of the most extreme places in the world, particularly in the Himalayas.

Earlier, a video had been accessed wherein Indo-Tibetan Border Personnel (ITBP) were seen performing Yoga on a vast frozen plain:

In addition, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu too organised a yoga event on Sunday to celebrate the fifth International Day of Yoga at Nepal's Thyangboche - the gateway to Mount Everest. The main objective of the programme was to highlight the importance of yoga in daily life and to bring peace and harmony across the nations and among people, a press statement issued by the Embassy said.
