WATCH: Former AAP leader Yogendra Yadav detained In Tamil Nadu, accuse the cops of 'manhandling and pushing'

Yogendra Yadav, former AAP leader, was detained in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvannamalai district on Saturday while he was on his way to meet farmers protesting against a proposed eight-lane expressway. Yogendra Yadav, 55, took to Twitter and alleged that the police stopped him from meeting farmers.

Yogendra Yadav, former AAP leader, was detained in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvannamalai district on Saturday while he was on his way to meet farmers protesting against a proposed eight-lane expressway. Yogendra Yadav, 55, took to Twitter and alleged that the police stopped him from meeting farmers. He also posted a video in which the police is seen stopping his car and asking him to move out. 

"While we were being stopped and detained", he wrote along with the video.

He further accused the cops of manhandling.

In the following tweet, he informed that he had spoken to Mr Kandasamy, Collector, Thiru Annamalai about the acquisition and complains of police excesses for 8 laneway. However, within minutes of the phone call, the police detained him.

He wrote that he was only going to visit farmers inside their homes, however, he was not allowed to do so.

The Rs. 10,000 crore eight-lane Salem-Chennai expressway has been facing opposition from a section of locals including farmers over the fear of losing their land, as well as environmentalists who are opposed to the felling of trees for the project.
