WATCH: PM Modi plays traditional drum at Chhattisgarh rally as supporters cheer

Days ahead of the second phase of Chhattisgarh assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave multiple visits to the poll-bound state to address several rallies. During one of his rallies in Chhattisgarh's Ambikapur district on November 16, Prime Minister delighted his supporters by playing the traditional drum while he was on stage. In a video shared by news agency ANI, PM Modi beat a traditional red dholak for his supporters in gratification. 

As the Prime Minister Modi took the stage, local leaders requested him to play the dholak and he gracefully accepted it. His supporters threw the strap of the traditional drum over his neck and a smiling PM Modi played it with his hands as the gathering praised him.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Prime Minister surprised the gathering by trying his hands on traditional musical instruments. In May, during his visit to Nepal, PM Modi played the traditional drums of the country and captivated the gathering. 

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh will go into second phase of polls on November 20. In the first phase of Assembly polls which took place on November 12, voter turnout of 76.28% was recorded covering 18 assembly districts.

Earlier on November 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a visit to poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Friday, addressed a mega rally in the Jagdalpur district of the state. During his address, PM Modi spoke about his desire to fulfill the dreams of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the development of the minorities in the country, especially in Chhattisgarh. He said, 'it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who took the first initiative to recognize the Dalits and tribals. I have come to fulfill it and will come time and again until it is fulfilled.'
