Chaos at Jadavpur University

On September 19, clashes had erupted in the Jadavpur University after former singer and current Union Minister for the State, Babul Supriyo went there to participate in an event organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Supriyo alleged that he was heckled and held hostage for hours and the students also blocked his way. When the Vice-Chancellor arrived to rescue him, he was also heckled by the crowd. Supriyo finally left the campus after Governor Das went to the site and rescued him in his car. Post the incident, the Governor said that it was a 'reflection of law and order situation' in the state. His statement was strongly criticized by the Trinamool Congress.
