West Bengal reports 203 fresh COVID-19 cases, 9 more deaths

West Bengal reported 203 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the virus tally in the state to 5,70,380 while the death roll reached 10,188 with nine more fatalities, according to the Health Department.

West Bengal reported 203 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the virus tally in the state to 5,70,380 while the death roll reached 10,188 with nine more fatalities, according to the Health Department. Total 309 patients recuperated from the infection during the day, improving the recovery rate to 97.28 per cent, it added. There are 5,305 active cases in the state at present. So far, 5,54,887 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the state.

Four of the latest deaths were reported from North 24 Parganas, while one person each died in Kolkata, Hooghly, Malda, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong, the Health Department said. A maximum of 56 new cases were detected in Kolkata. In the last 24 hours, 22,307 samples were tested for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the inoculation process for police officers and municipal workers started in the state on Tuesday, an official said. Total 21,778 people were vaccinated in 446 sessions, he said, adding that 11 minor adverse events following immunisation were reported.
