Yoga Day 2019: These 5 Yoga Exercises will help in managing Asthma

With International Yoga Day around the corner, here are some Yoga exercises that will give relief from Asthma.

Yoga is an ancient practice, whose practitioners consider it to be more than just a form of exercise. It has no side effects and only helps battle ailments while correcting postures, energy flow, and overall health. A daily routine of yoga every day will help in countering diseases like Asthma. The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015. It was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) following PM Modi's proposal in September 2018. 

With International Yoga Day around the corner, here are some Yoga exercises which will give relief from Asthma:

1) Bharastika Pranayama

This Yoga practice helps in removing blockages from the nose and chest. The breathing pattern resembles the blowing of bellows. This practice will help in throwing out toxins and also cures illnesses of respiratory tract. It boosts the supply of oxygen and purifies blood and it increases the warmth in the body and helps to prevent common cold. 

2) Anulom Vilom Pranayama

This yoga exercise helps in the elimination of free radicals and toxins from the Ida and Pingala nadi and helps to restore a balance between the two hemispheres of the brain. It is very helpful and useful in treating respiratory disorders. It also improves the lung capacity and oxygenation throughout the body.

3) Nadi Shodhan Pranayama or Alternate Nostril Breathing

This breathing technique helps in releasing tensions, stress and contributes in keeping the mind calmer. This yoga exercise helps in infusing the body with oxygen. This yoga practice helps in clearing and releasing of toxins. It also help to alleviate respiratory allergies that cause hay fever, sneezing, or wheezing. It also brings balance to the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

4) Kapalbhati Pranayama

This is a breathing technique which helps in the improvement of respiratory system functioning. It is part of the Eight Limbs Of Yoga as compiled in Yoga Sutras by Sage Patanjali.It helps in curing asthma, sinus, and hair loss.It also rejuvenates the brain and energizes the nerves.

5) Savasana

This is an excellent yoga exercise to ground the body and reduce the Vata dosha(imbalance of the air element) in the body. It is extremely effective for those suffering from neurological problem, asthma, constipation, diabetes, indigestion.
