CM Yogi Adityanath congratulates winners of Uttar Pradesh by-polls

Amid the UP by-polls election results, CM Adityanath congratulated all the winners; he said that the victory of the party shows the confidence of the voters

Amid the Uttar Pradesh bypolls election results, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday congratulated all the winners. He said that the victory of the party shows the confidence of the public in them. The ruling BJP and ally Apna Dal (S) improved their leads and are ahead in eight places as counting progressed in 11 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. The BJP is now leading in seven seats and ally Apna Dal (S) in one. The Samajwadi Party is ahead in two, while the Bahujan Samaj Party is leading in the remaining seat.

Speaking to the media, CM Yogi said, "In Uttar Pradesh, the election for 11 seats is concluded. Today the results show that out of 11 seats the BJP along with its alliances has claimed 8 seats. Two seats are won by Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj is leading on one seat."

"I want to congratulate all the winners of the bypolls from BJP and other parties. During the elections, all the parties take their agenda in front of the people. PM Modi's mantra of Sab ka Sath Sabka Vikas has become the new mantra for politics in India and according to this, every political party has kept their point in front of the common man. And to all those who have won, I want to say that their victory shows the confidence of the public in them. I believe that their main aim will be the development of the state," he added.

Uttar Pradesh by-polls

The by-polls were mostly necessitated after sitting legislators got elected to the Lok Sabha in May. The Ghosi seat fell vacant following the resignation of sitting MLA Phagu Chauhan after he was appointed as the Bihar Governor. The BJP currently has 302 members in the 403-member assembly, NDA ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) has eight MLAs, the SP has 47, the BSP has 18, while the Congress has seven.

The 11 seats up for by-elections include Pratapgarh, Lucknow Cantt, Rampur, Gangoh, Govindpur, Jalalpur, Zaidpur, Iglas, Manikpur, Ghosi, and Balham. BSP is set to contest on all seats independently after Mayawati broke the Gathbandhan in May. Meanwhile, BJP and Samajwadi Party have asked their respective alliance partners to field the candidates in some constituencies. Congress, on the other hand, is eyeing a comeback, cashing in on the SP-BJP major tussle ahead of state assembly polls in 2022.
