Police have arrested three men allegedly carrying charas worth around Rs 7 lakh in their car in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday, officials said.

The three suspects were caught with around 38-kg charas on Khanpur road in Budhana area, they said.

According to Circle Officer Girja Shankar Tripathi, the suspects were identified as Shah Alem, Somin and Narender.

He said during interrogation it was revealed that the three men belong to an interstate gang of drug peddlers.

The gang members used to get the contraband from Andhra Pradesh for supply in UP, Bihar and Haryana, Tripathi said.

He said one pistol and a car have been seized from the suspects.
