In a shocking remark over the brutal and heinous murder of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has given a communal and political colour to the horrific case.

Addressing a public gathering in Hyderabad's Yaukutpura, the firebrand leader condemned a number of ghastly incidents starting with the Aligarh murder that has shocked the nation and triggered widespread protests for justice:

"I condemn the Aligarh incident," the Hyderabad MP said, adding "I condemn the SR Nagar incident. I condemn Gorakhpur rape incident as well. That dalit girl is our daughter. I condemn the rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl in Indore. I condemn whatever happened in Gaya, Bihar."

He went on to add, 'When human becomes a demon, he starts acting in this manner. But we have got no hopes from our media. They will not show all these incidents. Because their father-figure told them to portray a community in bad light.'

Four persons, including main accused Zahid, his wife and his associate Aslam, have been arrested thus far for the abduction and killing of the minor in what is alleged to be a revenge crime over a financial dispute that Zahid had with the deceased's father. The Uttar Pradesh Police had constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the murder after the toddler's mutilated body was found on June 2.

The father of the victim has refused to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister as was proposed by the Aligarh SDM.

"For now, I have refused the SDM's proposal to meet the Chief Minister on Monday. When the entire country was mourning the incident and the people were coming to our home to express their condolences, then the Chief Minister too should have come to our home. Anyway, my wife is unwell. That is why I refused," he said.

Five persons were detained on Sunday for flouting prohibitory orders imposed in view of escalating tension over the brutal murder in the Tappal area of the city. Earlier in the day, a flag march was conducted by the security forces to build confidence among the people amid fears of violence. Ten companies of the PAC and the RAF along with the police have been deployed in the city, an official said.
