Kamlesh Tiwari murder: Samajwadi Party slams UP CM over law & order

Referring to the murder of Hindu Samaj Party chief Kamlesh Tiwari, Samajwadi Party slammed UP CM Yogi Adityanath over the law and order situation in the state.

The Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) slammed Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the law and order situation in the state on Saturday. It referred to the killing of Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari. Citing that all the police officials functioned under the aegis of the state government, the SP raised questions about how a murder could take place in broad daylight in Lucknow. It urged the UP CM to answer for the security lapse.

Three suspects arrested by Gujarat ATS

According to the sources, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested three persons in relation to the murder case of Tiwari. In a separate development, news agency Asian News International has reported that the Uttar Pradesh police is investigating Maulana Anwarul Haq from Bijnor. In 2015, he had placed a bounty of Rs.51 lakh for beheading Kamlesh Tiwari. He was one of the two suspects named by Tiwari’s wife in her complaint to the police.

SIT formed

Senior police officers such as Inspector General Lucknow SK Bhagat, Superintendent of Police Crime Lucknow Dinesh Puri and Deputy Superintendent of Police Special Task Force PK Mishra are part of the newly constituted SIT to probe the case. Tiwari, a former Hindu Mahasabha leader was shot at the Naka area of Lucknow. In fact, according to eyewitnesses, the attackers barged into Tiwari’s office and opened fire at him. Though he was immediately rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly. While the assailant managed to flee the spot, a revolver was recovered from the site of the crime. Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh indicated that the accused knew Tiwari. He claimed that they spent around 30 minutes with him on the pretext of gifting him sweets.
