Mumbai lockdown: 266 cases for violation registered between March 20-28

The metropolis' eastern region saw the highest number of cases at 97 followed by 65 in the north and 46 in the west, official said.

Mumbai police registered 266 cases between March 20-28 for violations of the Coronavirus- related lockdown, with Saturday alone seeing 55 FIRs being lodged, an official said on Sunday. The metropolis' eastern region saw the highest number of cases at 97 followed by 65 in the north and 46 in the west, he said.

These cases were filed under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC, he added.

"A total of 122 cases were for people gathering despite lockdown orders, 59 against illegal vehicles and 43 against shopkeepers. In the last nine days, 412 people were arrested and released on bail, 55 were given show cause notices and 37 are wanted," he said.
