The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough in an ongoing case involving a transnational conspiracy with Myanmar and Bangladesh-based leadership of terror outfits aiming to exploit the current ethnic unrest in Manipur. On Saturday, the NIA, in collaboration with Manipur Police, apprehended the second accused in the case, identified as Seiminlun Gangte.

"In an intelligence-based joint operation with Manipur Police, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), arrested Seiminlun Gangte in a case related to a transnational conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh-based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against the Govt. of India by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in the State of Manipur," the central agency said in a statement on Saturday.

This arrest follows closely on the heels of the apprehension of another suspect, Moirangthem Anand Singh, who was taken into custody on September 22 in connection with the same case.

The NIA's ongoing investigation has unveiled a chilling plot involving militant groups from Myanmar and Bangladesh conspiring with certain militant leaders in India. Their sinister plan revolves around instigating violence and creating divisions among different ethnic groups in Manipur while simultaneously plotting against the Government of India.

To facilitate their nefarious activities, these leaders have allegedly been funnelling funds to procure arms, ammunition, and other forms of terrorist equipment, the central agency said.

"For this purpose, the aforementioned leadership have been providing funds to procure arms, ammunition and other types of terrorist hardware which are being sourced both, from across the border, as well as from other terrorist outfits active in North Eastern States of India to stoke the current ethnic strife in Manipur," the NIA stated. "The said accused has been brought to New Delhi after his arrest and will be produced before the Jurisdictional Court. Further Investigations in the case are in progress," the agency said.
