SC to hear Congress plea on alleged 'Operation Kamala' tape on Tuesday

In a massive development, Senior Congress leader and advocate Kapil Sibal, on Monday has mentioned the matter related to a purported tape-recorded conversation of Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa of BJP before Supreme Court. In response, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the plea on Tuesday. The Congress had released a tape alleging Yediyurappa talking about  'Operation Kamala' on Friday.

Congress alleges 'Operation Kamala'

Earlier on Friday, Congress released a tape alleging that Karnataka CM and BJP chief BS Yediyurappa is confessing about Operation Kamala. Taking to Twitter, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief Dinesh Gundu Rao alleged that BJP led the ''immoral defection of Congress MLA". He claimed that the tape is a proof that BJP President Amit Shah took care of the defected MLA for 2.5 months.

Yediyurappa slams Congress

Slamming the Congress for alleging Amit Shah's role in the mass defection, the Karnataka CM said that the Congress with distorting his statement in a leaked audio clipping on rebel MLAs. Yediyurappa said those who resigned (disqualified MLAs) had done so for their own reasons and the party did not have anything to do with it. Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister denied having said that he would give tickets to those who resigned. He said matters were being unnecessarily distorted "to create confusion in the Supreme Court".

Karnataka By-Polls on December 5:

EC has deferred the by-polls in the state for 15 seats to December 5. The EC announced that the election's results will be declared on December 11. The constituencies which will go to polls on December 5 are - Athani, Kagwad, Gokak, Yellapur, Hirekerur, Ranibennur, Vijayanagar, Chikkaballapur, K.R. Pura, Yeshvanthapura, Mahalakshmi Layout, Shivajinagar, Hosakote, Krishnarajpet and Hunsur. The 15 seats were vacated after the disqualification of the rebel Congress- JD(S) MLAs following their resignation from their respective parties, which resulted in the fall of the Congress-JD(S) govt in the state on July 23.
