Congress leader Alka Lamba castigated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday after they inducted Parlad Singh Sawhney into the party. She said that AAP had learned to compromise with corruption. Interestingly, Lamba was AAP’s candidate from the Chandni Chowk constituency in the 2015 Assembly elections. Sawhney, who contested on the Congress ticket was a 4-term Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Chandni Chowk. However, Lamba defeated him in the election. Overall, the Congress party failed to win a single seat.
According to her, Sawhney faced serious charges of corruption. She also revealed that the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had personally shown the evidence pertaining to this to former CM Sheila Dikshit.
Lamba said, "Parlad Singh Sawhney has been a four-time MLA from the Congress, and against whom there are serious charges of corruption. In 2015, when I contested the Assembly election on the AAP ticket, at that time Arvind Kejriwal had shown evidence of corruption against Sheila Dikshit to Sawhney. He came third at that time.” She added, "This party (AAP) has learnt to compromise with corruption. They are giving patronage to corrupt people.”
Writing on the microblogging website Twitter, she questioned Kejriwal on how Sawhney became an honest man only after joining the AAP. Lamba joined the Congress in early September after a meeting with interim president Sonia Gandhi.

Senior Delhi Congress leader Sawhney switched over to the AAP on Sunday. He was welcomed by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh and the Delhi CM. Sawhney alleged that Congress was promoting people with wrong intentions. Stressing that he was not interested in getting a ticket from AAP for the upcoming Assembly elections, he promised to work towards the development of India’s capital city.
