After Haseeb Drabu, another Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Abid Hussain Ansari has announced his resignation from the party through a tweet causing another set-back to Mehbooba Mufti.

In a tweet, Ansari elucidated his reason for quitting PDP, he said that the party has failed the people of Jammu and Kashmir on all fronts and he wishes to step back from the "lies and deception" perpetuated by the party.
On December 6, former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Haseeb Drabu resigned from PDP claiming his absence from association with the affairs of the party for a while. Drabu shared the letter on Twitter acknowledged Mufti Mohammad Sayeed saying, ""Working with him made me realise that politics is not the 'last refuge of scoundrels'!.. I just hope that when history judges Mufti Saheb and his decision to ally with the BJP, it does so in the context and with the complexity that it deserves,"
The news comes two weeks after PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, NC chief Omar Abdullah and Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir attempted to form an alliance, but was prevented after the Governor dissolved the Assembly in the State.
Backing the coalition, she said that the trio of parties had found common ground over seeking dissolution of the state assembly. She went on to reference a grand alliance 'Mahagathbandhan' in the state and questioned the Jammu and Kashmir Governor.
