  • Earlier in the day, Congress party was stung with a brutal attack by Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati

Moments after the Congress party was stung with a brutal attack by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, who confirmed that her party will go solo for elections in states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has followed suite in terms of going offensive against Congress.

In a post on Twitter, which came minutes after a fiery press conference by Mayawati, Owaisi lashed out at Congress for indulging in caste politics, calling them as 'Janeudhari party'. His message read, "Will Janeudhari party call BSP a vote divider ,BSP says Janeudhari party is Casteist,& Communal I hope the leaders of this party which has a DNA Of B....... stop posing Questions to me."

The rift within the 'Mahagathbandhan', an association of various opposition parties led by Congress, came out in the open following the statements by the BSP chief on Wednesday. She launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of playing 'caste politics'.

"Just because Congress is afraid of BJP, hence they are not giving tickets to Muslim candidates. But we are giving them. Congress is not targeting BJP more but they are just targeting opposition only. Due to Congress' reckless behavior, we are not able to see this gathbandhan (Mahagathbandhan) strong. Congress is having a day dream that they will defeat BJP alone. Congress wants to crush BSP's movement and doing just natakbaazim," she said.

The BSP supremo went onto announce her party will go alone in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, like just in Chattisgarh. "

We will contest alone in Rajasthan and in Madhya Pradesh. Dont need Congress' support. We will not gain anything if we will go in alliance with Congress. We will not bow in front of Congress . We have power to uproot our political rivals," she added before ending the press conference.

The latest set of event has all but confirmed of Mayawati's exit from the grand alliance. Problems between the two parties were pretty much visible after Mayawati's BSP had dumped Congress and joined hands with Janta Congress for the upcoming Chattisgarh elections.
