When politics and Bollywood merge in India, the result is often thunderous, especially when the Prime Minister himself is involved.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a photograph on his Instagram posing with an array of Bollywood personalities. A selfie that holds the potential to 'break the internet' included the Prime Minister, surrounded by A-listed actors like Alia Bhat, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and the new generation included Bhoomi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmaan Khurana, Rajkumar Rao, and if that wasn't enough filmmakers Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty and Ekta Kapoor too smiled next to PM Modi.
Prime Minister captioned the picture saying "Had a good meeting with popular film personalities, that already garnered over 120,000 likes within just 10 minutes of sharing.
The photograph was first shared by talk-show host, judge and filmmaker Karan Johar who thanked the Prime Minister for the reduction of GST in movie ticket prices.
His caption encapsulated a possible enlightening conversation between them, as the filmmaker said, "Powerful and timely conversations can bring about change and this was one of what we hope will become a regular conversation."
Reportedly the meeting has been called by the honourable Prime Minister as he wanted to meet the young stars and discuss what they think about India as an evolving country? And, how they think their films are impacting the Indian culture
Gone are the days when Bollywood celebrities were just about making good films and entertaining people. Now, the new age actors try to bring in social messages through their films, in the hope that it will bring a change in society.
Fans are going gaga as they call it the 'selfie of the year'. While many of them praise the picture, there were few who have drawn a reference to the upcoming PM Modi biopic, that was announced recently, saying they thought that the film fraternity is posing with actor Vivek Oberoi instead.
